TOP OF THE NINTH (Dodgers 2, Phillies 1)

Juan Castro in at third. Juan Pierre in left. Orlando Hudson at second. Jonathan Broxton on the mound. Jimmy Rollins grounds to second. Two outs away from evening the series. Shane Victorino grounds to short. One out away. Chase Utley, looking to make amends for his game-changing error, flies to right. Dodgers win, 2-1, and even the series at one game each. Game 3 is Sunday in Philadelphia.

BOTTOM OF THE EIGHTH (Dodgers 2, Phillies 1)

Chan Ho Park is pitching. Dodger fans are still waiting for him to throw at Barry Bonds for the pirouette. Blake hits a shot off of Feliz’s glove at third. Blake on first, none out. Juan Pierre runs for Blake. The Dodger fans love Pierre. Ronnie Belliard is up. He bunts past Park and PAST Howard, everybody is safe. Runners on first and second, none out. Russell Martin is up. Full count to Martin, who was bunting. Martin hits a grounder to third. Feliz throws to second for the force, but Utley throws the ball past Howard. Pierre scores the tying run. The second time Utley has thrown the ball away this series. Scott Eyre is coming in for the Phillies. Jim Thome will hit for Kuo. Man on first, one out. Thome singles to right, Martin advancing to third. We just put up a photo gallery of shots from the game here. Ryan Madson comes in to pitch for Philadelphia. Furcal walks, loading the bases with one out for Matt Kemp. Kemp strikes out. Huge out for the Phillies. Bases loaded, two out, Ethier up. Now J.A. Happ, a lefty, comes in to face Ethier. They should really consider putting in ads for blood pressure medication during these games, cause Dodger fans could use some right now. Ethier walks on a full-count pitch, Dodgers lead 2-1. Great at-bat by Ethier. Another new Phillies pitcher, the fifth pitcher this inning, Chad Durbin will come in to face Manny Ramirez with two out, the bases loaded, and the Dodgers leading 2-1.

TOP OF THE EIGHTH (Phillies 1, Dodgers 0)

Did you know that George Lopez has a new talk show coming out soon? TBS has been very shy in promoting it. Hopefully, he can reunite the cast of ‘The George Lopez Show’ and re-enact how the final episode would have played out if ABC had done the decent thing and let them have a final episode. The Phillies are shaking Pedro Martinez’s hand in the dugout, so it appears his day is done. Martinez showed why he is an easy first-ballot Hall of Famer. Pedro Feliz bounces to short. Ruiz walks. Greg Dobbs hits for Martinez. Joe Torre comes out to remove Padilla, who gets a well-deserved standing ovation as he walks to the dugout. Hong-Chih Kuo comes in to pitch. Ben Francisco hits for Dobbs and grounds into a 6-4-3 double play.

BOTTOM OF THE SEVENTH (Phillies 1, Dodgers 0)

Ethier grounds to second. Ramirez strikes out. Dodger hitters have seemed tentative and off-balance all game. Loney flies out to DEEP center.

TOP OF THE SEVENTH (Phillies 1, Dodgers 0)

Ryan Howard singles to right. Money in the Bank ladder match winner Jayson Werth grounds into a 6-4-3 double play. Two strikeouts and a double play for Werth. Ibanez strikes out. Great game by Padilla.

BOTTOM OF THE SIXTH (Phillies 1, Dodgers 0)

Martinez hits Russell Martin with a pitch on a 2-2 count. If you are Joe Torre, do you pinch-hit for Padilla here? Torre doesn’t, and Padilla sacrifices Martin to second. The Dodger Stadium crowd shows some sign of life as Rafael Furcal comes to the plate. Everyone is on their feet. The white towels are waving. Adam Wainwright must be going crazy at home. Chan Ho Park is loosening up in the bullpen. Furcal flies to center. Kemp flies to left. And that is that.

TOP OF THE SIXTH (Phillies 1, Dodgers 0)

Rollins strikes out. Victorino hits a hard smash to Loney, who makes the play look easy and steps on the bag. Having Don Mattingly, a Gold Glove first baseman, as a coach has really helped Loney’s fielding step up to Gold Glove level. Utley flies to left. Padilla has retired eight in a row. You can’t ask for much more than he has given the Dodgers today.

BOTTOM OF THE FIFTH (Phillies 1, Dodgers 0)

James Loney pops to third. If the outfield fence was 60 feet from home plate and 100 feet high, the Dodgers would have a lot of homers right now. Blake strikes out, Martinez’s first strikeout of the day. Ronnie Belliard steps in. Martinez is really slowing down the pace right now, which could be a sign he is getting tired. Belliard strikes out.

TOP OF THE FIFTH (Phillies 1, Dodgers 0)

Feliz grounds to short. Ruiz flies to right. Martinez lines to second. A quick half-inning.

BOTTOM OF THE FOURTH (Phillies 1, Dodgers 0)

The Dodgers need to start showing some life right now. Matt Kemp singles off Martinez’s glove. Kemp is thrown out stealing. Bad decision there. Should have stayed put with Ethier and Ramirez coming up. And it took all the air out of the crowd. Ethier flies to center. Ramirez pops to first. Very disappointing inning.

TOP OF THE FOURTH INNING (Phillies 1, Dodgers 0)

Utley rolls to first. Well, Utley didn’t roll to first, the ball did. But you get the meaning. Ryan Howard homers to left-center. The Rated-R Superstar Jayson Werth strikes out again. Ibanez strikes out. Padilla reacted well to the homer, which is a good sign.

BOTTOM OF THE THIRD (Dodgers 0, Phillies 0)

Ronnie Belliard flies to left. Russell Martin hits a little pop fly that lands in no man’s land between center, second and short for a single. Don Larsen can rest easy. Padilla fails on two bunt attempts, then succeeds with two strikes, advancing Martin to second. Furcal grounds to second.

TOP OF THE THIRD (Dodgers 0, Phillies 0)

The inning opens with a sweeping overhead shot of Dodger Stadium that proves that it is still the nicest-looking ballpark in the world. Carlos Ruiz almost knocks a hole in Padilla as he hits a line drive up the middle. Padilla just got out of the way in time. Pedro Martinez pops up a bunt to first. Loney lets the ball drop and throws to first, but Belliard steps on the bag before tagging Ruiz, so Ruiz remains at first, with Martinez out. Dodgers could have had a double play there, unless the umpire called the infield fly rule. Of course, with these announcers, you’ll never find out what is actually happening. Rollins hits a sinking liner that Ethier runs in and catches just before it hits the ground. Nice play by Ethier, who is underrated defensively. Shane Victorino, who looks like former Times Sports Dept. co-worker Joel Huerto, looks foolish on a 60-mph. Ruiz steals second after Furcal can’t hold on to the ball. But the Phillies can’t take advantage, as Victorino pops to short. A lot of activity in that inning for no runs to score.

BOTTOM OF THE SECOND (Dodgers 0, Phillies 0)

Pedro vs. Manny. Pedro wins. Manny pops to first. James Loney grounds to first. The Dodgers really, really like hitting the ball to the first baseman. They did it during the Cardinals series, they are doing it now. Casey Blake, who with his full beard looks more and more like the Unabomber each day, flies to right. Both pitchers look really good.

TOP OF THE SECOND (Dodgers 0, Phillies 0)

Could there possibly be a few more MagicJack commercials between innings? There were only three that time. Jayson Werth, who could pass as the twin of WWE superstar Edge, strikes out looking. Raul Ibanez grounds to first. By the way, three guys in the broadcast booth are too many. There’s never a quiet moment. Pedro Feliz strikes out on a breaking pitch. Padilla looks really good so far. A lot of movement on his pitches, and his control has been excellent.

BOTTOM OF THE FIRST (Dodgers 0, Phillies 0)

Former Dodger Pedro Martinez on the mound for the Phillies. Delino DeShields selling peanuts in the stands. Rafael Furcal flies out. Matt Kemp hits a looper to short. Andre Ethier pops to second.

TOP OF THE FIRST (Phillies 0, Dodgers 0)

Listening to the pre-game noise, It’s safe to say that Dodger Stadium has the worst music in all of baseball. The organist is great. But whoever picks the canned music really needs to get out more. Jimmy Rollins flies to left, Shane Victorino flies to right, Chase Utley is up. Doesn’t his name sound like an investment banker? Need money advice? Contact Chase. Utley. Utley cashes in with a single to center. Ryan Howard pops to short. Vicente Padilla hasn’t hit a batter yet. What’s wrong with him?
