The top of the Associated Press poll is an all Southeastern Conference affair, with Florida and Alabama checking in at No. 1 and No. 2 in today’s release.

Alabama used five field goals and defense to beat Mississippi, 22-3, and Texas had to rally from a halftime deficit at home to defeat Colorado, 38-14.

Texas, so long as it keeps winning, doesn’t need to worry too much about the poll change. Florida and Alabama play in opposite divisions and may ultimately play each other for the SEC title.

USC, which had a bye week, took advantage of No. 4 Louisiana State’s loss to Florida and moved up one spot to No. 6. The Trojans play at Notre Dame next week.

The AP top 10: Florida, Alabama, Texas, Virginia Tech, Boise State, USC, Ohio State, Cincinnati, Miami, LSU.
