USC football: School will start selling jerseys with Matt Barkley’s number

Call it the Matt Barkley effect.

USC usually waits a year or two or three before cashing in on players’ popularity by selling replica jerseys featuring the number worn by the players. But the school’s website said today that No. 7 jerseys will go on sale at the campus bookstore on Thursday.

Fans of freshman safety T.J. McDonald, no doubt,will also be pleased.
