But the Bruins (2-0) had to scramble at the end to do it.

With UCLA leading, 19-13, Tennessee recorded a controversial safety to pull closer and get the ball back.

Bruins quarterback Kevin Prince was ruled down in the end zone, though replays appeared to show that he landed with the ball several inches in front of the goal line.

UCLA then survived an offside penalty with 57 seconds left that nullified an interception by Rahim Moore. That gave Tennessee another shot on fourth down, but Jonathan Crompton’s hurried pass fell incomplete and the Bruins ran out the clock.
