Paul Hackett‘s first year at USC in 1998 ended with a 28-19 loss to Texas Christian in the Sun Bowl.

The date was Dec. 31 -- unhappy New Year.

The real BCS standings will be released Oct. 18, but the debut this week of the Harris poll provides additional information for the simulated standings.
