After stopping 12 of 14 shots, Kings goaltender Erik Ersberg was replaced by Jonathan Bernier at 9:49 in the second period.

Bernier, who has played two full games and impressed Coach Terry Murray with his attitude, soon faced a slap shot from an off-balanced Bobby Ryan. Center Ryan Getzlaf went behind the net and found an open Ryan, who shot between Bernier’s legs for a 3-1 lead at 12:04.

Kings left winger Ryan Smyth responded at the 15:13 mark with his second power-play goal of the night after Ducks right winger Evgeny Artyukhin was given a two-minute penalty at the 14:19 mark for interference.

Bernier finished the period with three saves, while Ducks goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere has 23 saves through two periods.
