Apologies here. An ESPN spokesman had said tickets for the Sept. 12 3D broadcast of the USC at Ohio State football game, to be shown at the Galen Center, would be available through the USC alumni department. The free tickets are available in many ways but not through the alumni office.

Try these distribution points instead:

Inside Gate 4 at the Coliseum during Saturday’s intrasquad scrimmage from noon until 3 p.m.; at Fanfest outside the Coliseum before the 12:30 p.m. kickoff of USC’s home game against San Jose State Sept. 5; at the Galen Center box office during the Sept. 3 and Sept. 4 women’s volleyball matches (6 until 9 p.m. each day); at Heritage Hall, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. weekdays beginning Tuesday; the USC ticket office from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. weekdays.

And if you decide to attend the 3D broadcast, make sure you record the game if you have a high definition television. Having gone to a theater to watch the 2009 BCS championship game in 3D, I felt I had really missed the game because of jerky cameras, unusual angles and just a general sense that it was an experiment with kinks not worked out.

ESPN is using its own 3D crew and maybe things will be better. But just in case ... set that DVR!
