Lakers forward Pau Gasol will be sidelined for three weeks after injuring a finger on his left hand during practice with the Spanish national team, a Spanish website reported.

Lakers spokesman John Black said he received a call from Gasol’s agent from Spain, Arturo Ortega, who told him that Gasol broke his left index finger, had surgery today and is expected to make a full recovery. The report from Spain said he broke his left index finger.

‘That’s all we know,’ Black said.

A translation of the article said that Gasol injured his finger when he attempted to block a shot in practice. He was immediately taken to the hospital for surgery.

Note: A previous version of this post incorrectly stated Black’s assessment came from Gasol’s American agent, Arn Tellem. It also stated that Black was told Gasol broke his left middle finger. In a clarification this morning, Black said it is indeed his left index finger.
