NBA: Nuggets’ J.R. Smith, Suns’ Jason Richardson to serve suspensions in connection to driving incidents

The NBA has ruled that Denver Nuggets shooting guard J.R. Smith will serve a nine-game suspension without pay after pleading guilty for reckless driving, the league announced today.

Phoenix Suns guard Jason Richardson will also be suspended without pay for two games after pleading guilty to driving under the influence.

A passenger in Smith’s car died in an accident in 2007, and Smith served 24 days in jail last month.
