Some members of the Los Angeles Sol and Los Angeles Sparks made appearances today at the Home Depot Center in Carson to sign autographs before the evening tennis matches at the L.A. Women’s Championships.

Here are a few of their comments about which tennis players they were excited to see:

Sol goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc: Maria Sharapova (who plays Victoria Azarenka tomorrow night)

Sol midfielder Aly Wagner: Andy Roddick (who isn’t playing at all in this women’s tournament)

Sol forward Han Duan: Jie Zheng (who plays Elena Vesnina tomorrow morning at 11 a.m.)

Sol midfielder Shannon Boxx: “I don’t know tennis that well. I brought my mom. She’s a big tennis fan. She knows everybody.”

Sol midfielder Manya Makoski: “I’ve never really been to a big tennis match to watch it live. I’ll be looking if there are any lefties, ’cause I’m a lefty.”

Sparks guard Kristi Harrower: “Are there any Aussies playing?”

Sparks center Vanessa Hayden: “Well, Sharapova because she’s the woman.”
