The Clippers acquired shooting guard Rasual Butler and an undisclosed amount of cash in a trade with the New Orleans Hornets for a conditional second-round draft pick in 2016, the team announced today.

“We are very excited to add Rasual to our roster,” Clippers Head Coach and General Manager Mike Dunleavy said in a statement. “We believe he is another piece who will help us get back to being a competitive playoff team.”

Butler, a seven-year veteran, averaged 11.2 points in 31.9 minutes in 82 games last season, shooting 40% from the field and 37% from three-point range. But the Hornets traded him because it reportedly saved the organization $3.9 million in cap space.
