All bets are off for the time being in Delaware

Delaware planned to start taking bets on sporting events next month, becoming the only state other than Nevada with legalized sports gambling, but a federal appeals court in Philadelphia put a halt to the Delaware plan.

The court said Delaware would be violating a federal law against such wagering.

The state had pushed for sports betting as a way to deal with the struggling economy, but the NCAA and professional sports leagues opposed it.
