Jayson Werth, not Matt Kemp, replaces Beltran on All-Star roster
Jayson Werth of the Philadelphia Phillies was selected to the National League All-Star team today, replacing injured outfielder Carlos Beltran of the New York Mets.
The addition of Werth, as determined by Phillies and NL Manager Charlie Manuel in conjunction with Major League Baseball, means that all three of Philadelphia's starting outfielders have been selected. Raul Ibanez was voted into the starting lineup, and Shane Victorino was the winner of Internet balloting for the final spot on the roster.
Werth was not one of the choices in the "Final Vote" Internet balloting, but the Dodgers' Matt Kemp was. Werth is batting .268 with 20 home runs, 54 runs batted in, 12 stolen bases and an .894 OPS. Kemp is batting .319 with 10 home runs, 46 runs batted in, 19 stolen bases and an .875 OPS.

The manager should not be allowed to pick his own player who wasn't part of the last 5. Kemp is only hitting 50 points higher. Total hooey!
