Ron Capps regains lead in NHRA funny car standings

Ron Capps, who calls San Luis Obispo his hometown, took back the lead in the National Hot Rod Assn. funny car standings over Ashley Force Hood. He will look to build on his lead this weekend at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma.

Larry Dixon, a Van Nuys High graduate, was one of three drivers in the NHRA top fuel division to clinch playoff berths last weekend at Pacific Raceways near Seattle. Antron Brown, the leader in the top fuel standings, and Tony Schumacher, the reigning top fuel champion, are the other two drivers who have qualified for the Countdown to One, the NHRA playoffs.
