Kobe Bryant or Michael Jordan? Obama chooses Jordan
Now Barack Obama.
In an interview with the Associated Press, Obama was asked today whether Kobe Bryant or Michael Jordan is the best basketball player of all time.
"Oh, Michael,'' Obama said. "I mean, Kobe's terrific. Don't get me wrong. But I haven't seen anybody match up with Michael.''
Could be a hometown call. Obama is from Chicago.
Or it could be that MJ was better.
Kobe isn't faring well in the comparisons game. Even West, a legendary Laker, said earlier this year that LeBron James had overtaken Bryant as the NBA's best player.

Whatever gets Kobe more motivated is okay with us Lakers fans. Bring it on!

Jordan is better than Kobe, but Magic Johnson is the best player of all time. Why? Because he makes the whole team better through passing, distributing, setting people up for their best shots, understanding the defense and pushing the fast break. He can also rebound, block and shoot, make steals and get rebounds. Magic Johnson could play every position well - and did. So I'd take Magic over any of those others.

==================
absolutely true! That is exactly what I tell people, many young fans saw Michael in the late-'90's, but didn't see Magic in the early-to-mid-'80's. Magic was the best player on the best team of all-time, and led the Lakers to 5 titles in the most competitive decade in NBA history. MJ's Bulls teams never faced the caliber of competition like the Celtics, 76ers, Rockets, etc... of the '80's. Not only that, Magic - like you correctly point out zorro - made all of his teammates better and was the consumate team-player in NBA history, someone that did whatever it took to make his team a winner. I don't know how many titles MJ would have had if he come along a decade earlier, but one thing is for sure, he would not have won 6 titles if his teams played in the '80's!
BTW Wilt Chamberlain was #2 on the list, someone should tell President Obama to look up the records held by one 'Wilt the Stilt' - some of which are unbelievable (like averaging over 50 pts a season!)
#1 - Magic Johnson
#2 - Wilt Chamberlain
#3 - Michael Jordan
and better make room for Kobe, he keeps up his level of play for another 4-5 yrs he'll be somewhere on list too!
