Winning night for Johnson family in Irwindale, Las Vegas

Mike Johnson

of Covina won the NASCAR Late Model race at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale on the same night his son won a race in the Charger division at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Matt Johnson, the 29-year-old son of Mike Johnson, won his first race of the season in Las Vegas.

Mike Johnson won for the first time at Irwindale since the Late Model portion of the Toyota All-Star Showdown in January.

of Las Vegas won the ASA Speed Trucks race after the leaders collided on the last lap of the race. Randel King of Riverside was leading the race when Cole Cabrera of Exeter crashed into King’s truck. Cabrera crossed the finish line first, but he was penalized for crashing into King.

The ASA Speed Trucks race saw the return of Lee Hatch, a driver from Alta Loma and a two-time champion in the truck series who hasn’t raced since 2006.
