The Kings used their first-round pick, fifth overall in the NHL draft, to add a center: Brayden Schenn. Schenn was considered one of the top five forwards in this year’s talent pool.

He has been playing for the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League and before the draft had talked about maybe being selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs so he could play alongside his brother Luke.

Toronto’s GM Brian Burke knows about bringing brothers together -- consider Scott and Rob Niedermayer. But it was not to be, at least today. Today, the Kings got their man.

The analysis from TSN’s Pierre McGuire on Brayden Schenn: ‘This guy is heart and soul and winning character. He’ll be a perfect addition up front alongside Dustin Brown.’
