The real reason Joseph Fauria is out at Notre Dame

June 24, 2009 |  2:54 pm

Notre Dame and football Coach Charlie Weis announced today that tight end Joseph Fauria will miss next season for "personal reasons."

Well, that's technically true.

But saying the 6-foot-7, 245-pound Encino Crespi High product got kicked out of school for a semester would be even more accurate.

Fauria was a backup as a freshman last season -- he played in three games but did not catch a pass -- and was not expected to start in the fall.

Weis said he hoped Fauria would be back in school next spring. He did not say he hoped Fauria would be ALLOWED back in school next spring.

A family source said Fauria is not permitted on campus until December. It is not known whether he will return to the school.

he seems like a great kid, i think he will do well whatever happens. best of luck to joe.

It is irresponsible reporting to print innuendo. Gathering facts and then reporting are supposed to happen in that sequence; not the other way around.

If true, please post your source in detail to provide legitament accuracy, otherwise quit being a tabloid. We have too many of those which as made all in the new industry unreliable for sources of information.

Hey Mike,

You forgot to mention in your story the reason why Fauria got kicked out for a semester at Notre Dame.

This is highly irresponsible reporting. No problem stating facts but this piece is low level tabloid material. You can do better and need to.

This IS typical of west coast reporting... NO FACTS!!! Just innuendos and wishfull thinking. Hoping a team that holds ACADEMICS to the highest regard fails. Kind of way they report on Stanford. This is one of several reasons I don't live in Cali no more.
Highly ACADEMIC universities get bad press there. Ask Stanford.
I GUESS NOBODY LIKES SEEING NERDS BEAT ATHLETES AT THEIR OWN AND ONLY GAME!

I'm still waiting for the reason so far it just babble!!!
However, I still love the innuendos of hatred towards ACADEMIC universities.
I remember when I lived in Hayward. CA, and how Stanford got bad press there.
I suppose with the Media, they hate NERDS beating JOCKS at their one and only game.
Now I'm seeing it elsewhere too.
How I feel sorry for ND,Vandy,Duke,Auburn,BC,N'wtrn,Pur. You know Universities where you have to go to class at.
Unlike the mercenary Universities that they seem too defend by making light of their infractions.

TGEM7,

Auburn. Auburn? That is the Washington State of Alabama. And I apologize for using Washington State as a reference. Now if you had said Georgia Tech...

Joe is suspended for a semester for two separate incidents occurring a week apart last spring. One dealt with conduct concerning a dorm rector, and the other, for allegedly confronting a member of the faculty in the elevator.

He thinks he's a hot shot. He deserves to get kicked out Good Luck at UCLA you'll see ex girlfriend there eventually!

LOL @ Auburn being compared to those other schools. Here's betting that neither Bo Jackson nor Charles Barkley went to class more often than practice.

Question to the author... did you ever find out why Fauria left ND, or have you moved on to another blockbuster story? If this is it, it is incomplete at best and a joke at worst.

Building the "CRESPI MAN", huh?

One kicked out of Notre Dame, and the other charged with Sexual Battery at UCLA.

Where's Fr. Peter when we need him???
