Joseph Fauria, a former Encino Crespi High tight end who was a backup last season as a freshman at Notre Dame, said Friday he has been granted a release and will transfer to a Pacific 10 Conference school, with UCLA among the schools he hopes to consider.

Notre Dame announced earlier this week that Fauria had left school for ‘personal reasons.’ Fauria was not going to be allowed to play this season.
