Dozens of reporters and camera crews swarmed Dodger Stadium after it was announced that Manny Ramirez was suspended for his use of performance enhancing drugs.

Meanwhile, Jose Canseco held his own news conference to essentially say, ‘I told you so.’

And by ‘you,’ he means ‘anybody willing to listen.’

And by ‘anybody willing to listen,’ he means the guy sitting in the chair.

Yes, you -- Associated Press reporter Greg Risling.

We haven’t confirmed that it’s actually Greg who is enjoying the ample leg room, but power of deductive reasoning suggests it’s him -- the only reporter in the room. His story says that there were also four camera crews, a photographer, and Canseco’s lawyer (Dennis Holahan, pictured at podium with his client). One is the loneliest number, except for No. 99 (who didn’t go to Chavez Ravine for the official media circus).

You can see Canseco’s full 15-minute news conference in this video from KNBC:

Canseco had a much larger audience last month when he originally told Times columnist Kurt Streeter and an assembly at USC that he suspected Manny was being aided.

Strange as it seems to try to ride Manny’s coattails at the moment, he’s certainly a hot topic. Yahoo reports that searches for ‘Manny Ramirez’ spiked 4,453% in the past day since his steroids news broke (go figure: 36% of those searches were by females, who might actually be able to use HCG).

Google listed him as the most popular search term in the United States on Thursday, describing the sudden rise in interest as ‘volcanic.’ Searches peaked around 9 a.m.
