Danny Gay wins first Super Late Model race at Irwindale

Danny Gay, a driver from Lakeside, won his first NASCAR Super Late Model race at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, on a night of twin races at the track.

Gay didn’t have much time to celebrate. He was wrecked on the first lap of the second Super Late Model race and finished 18th.

Nick Joanides of Woodland Hills, the leader in the Super Late Model standings at the track, won the second Super Late Model race of the night. He was second in the first race.

Patrick Long, a sports-car driver from Thousand Oaks with two wins in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, was in the Super Late Model races. He was 11th in the first race and fourth in the second.
