Bowles closes in on NASCAR West Series leader

Iowa speedway

Jason Bowles, a driver from Ontario, moved within 16 points of the lead in the NASCAR Camping World West Series standings after a ninth-place finish in Sunday's race at Iowa Speedway.

Bowles is 16 points behind Eric Holmes of Escalon, the leader in the West Series standings who was involved in a crash early in the race and finished 36th in the 37-car field.

David Mayhew of Atascadero moved into third place in the West Series standings. He won the West Series portion of the race and finished third overall.

The Camping World Series race at Iowa Speedway pitted the drivers from the West and East NASCAR developmental series.
