Fox ISO-CAM and Lakers, it’s not only for Kobe

The Fox ISO-CAM, used for the first time tonight during the Lakers-Utah game, has been both mesmerizing and disconcerting.

It has been mostly focused on Kobe Bryant so if you’re good at reading lips, you can figure out when Kobe is happy and when he isn’t but more than that, better than that, you get a real sense of how many times Kobe is pushed, hip-checked, bumped, jumped into, knocked around and how much he does the same thing. The ISO-CAM was about 30 seconds behind the real action so it was a little head-spinning if you were trying to watch the game and the ISO-CAM.

But, during commercial breaks the ISO-CAM followed the Laker Girls. Perhaps some of us preferred switching to ‘Dancing With the Stars’ or to the Ducks game (knocked off high definition again, off Versus and on Fox Prime at least on my Orange County Cox, which carries only one Fox HD channel), but I suspect many Lakers fans were happy to focus on the ISO-CAM’s very up-close shots of the dance routines.
