Beckman prepares for NHRA races at Gateway

Jack Beckman hits the throttle en route to his win on April 19 in Funny Car at the Summit Racing NHRA Southern Nationals drag race in Commerce, Ga. He defeated Ashley Force Hood in the final.

Jack Beckman, an NHRA funny car driver from North Hills, has yet to make it to the elimination rounds at Gateway International Raceway, site of this weekend's drag races. Beckman is coming off his first win of the season, two weeks ago at Atlanta Dragway, and is second in the funny car standings.

Ron Hornaday Jr., driving for Kevin Harvick Inc., was fourth in the rain-delayed NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Kansas Speedway on Monday.
