Utah State Coach Stew Morrill might not have the best team in the NCAA tournament, though the 30-4 Aggies are the upset pick of some ‘experts’ today against Marquette.

But Morrill might have the best sense of humor.

Morrill’s first season as Utah State’s coach began 11 years ago at the Big West Conference media day, and he told about his first meeting with Utah State boosters.

He opened that meeting with a joke. ‘I said, ‘Do you know why you take two Mormons with you when you go fishing? Because if you take one, he’ll drink all your beer.’ They laughed, but looked at me like, ‘Is he making fun of us, is he one of us.’ ‘

Two things for the record: Morrill was raised Mormon. And Utah State fans enjoy a good laugh, usually at the expense of BYU and Utah.
