You’ll hear the song, over and over, during the three weeks of the NCAA college basketball tournament. It’s a little sweet, a little corny, and it seems to fit certain moments, like when Bryce Drew makes a miracle buzzer beater for Valparaiso, or when Tyus Edney navigates through an entire Missouri team so that UCLA doesn’t get upset, or when Christian Laettner brings Kentucky to its knees with his nerveless last-second jump shot.

It’s called ‘One Shining Moment.’ It was written by a struggling folk singer named Dave Barrett, but it ended up being NCAA basketball’s theme song because CBS network executive Doug Towey recognized its sports appeal. Towey passed away Wednesday at the age of 61 after a long illness, according to CBS. In honor of Towey, perhaps during this year’s first buzzer beater, maybe sing along. The song has lyrics. Of course, you remember the tune.
