Since the Lakers traded away backup center Chris Mihm to the Memphis Grizzlies, reserve center DJ Mbenga has actually played well.

Mbenga has made nine of his 14 shots over a three-game span and has scored a career-high 10 points during that time. He had a career-high four assists Monday night against the Portland Trail Blazers.

With Lamar Odom being suspended Tuesday for one game by the NBA for leaving the bench during an altercation during Monday night’s game in Portland, Mbenga will be counted on to play some big minutes Wednesday night against the Houston Rockets.
