Right wing Justin Williams, acquired by the Kings from Carolina in a three-way, deadline-deal trade that sent Patrick O’Sullivan to Edmonton, had the cast removed from his broken left hand on Friday. He injured it when he was struck by a teammate’s shot three weeks ago.

However, the projected timetable for Williams’ return remains at two to three weeks, a club spokesman said. As of Thursday Williams hadn’t been skating, so it will take him a while to get back into shape.

Other notes before the Kings and Wild prepare for a 1 p.m. start: Jonathan Quick will start in goal for the Kings, his 18th start in the last 21 games. Enforcer Kevin Westgarth, recalled from Manchester on Friday, participated in the warmups and likely will play.
