Dodgers notes: Sturtze has real shot at making club

Sturtze_300PHOENIX -- Right-hander Tanyon Sturtze (pictured at left) has emerged as a strong possibility to make the club, Manager Joe Torre said this morning.

Sturztze, who battled back from shoulder surgery and pitched in three big-league games for the Dodgers last season, has a 3.00 earned-run average in eight spring appearances.

Torre, who managed Sturtze in New York, said the 38-year-old non-roster invitee looks much better than he did a spring ago.

Casey Blake, who welcomed a son into the world Friday night, is expected to return to camp Sunday.

Manny Ramirez will DH today when the Dodgers face the Chicago White Sox at Camelback Ranch. He's also scheduled to play in the Dodgers' next two games.

Starter Randy Wolf's pitch count is 100.

Here's the Dodgers lineup:
Rafael Furcal SS
Orlando Hudson 2B
Manny Ramirez DH
Andre Ethier RF
Russell Martin C
James Loney 1B
Matt Kemp CF
Juan Pierre LF
Blake DeWitt 3B
Randy Wolf LHP
