<strong><u><em>Adam Rose:</strong></u></em> Arizona State’s Herb Sendek on the stump for Pac-10 hoops

In the final minute of USC’s loss to Arizona State on Sunday night, Trojan coach Tim Floyd was ejected for arguing a call with officials.

Sun Devil coach Herb Sendek was far more diplomatic. He used his postgame news conference to publicly lobby for the Pacific 10 Conference. ASU seems destined for their first trip to the NCAA tournament since 2003, but Sendek must be remembering what happened last season.

The Pac-10 received six bids to the Big Dance, but many felt they should have earned seven. The Sun Devils were left out. Adding insult to injury, arch rival Arizona made it into the tournament even though ASU had a better record and beat the Wildcats* twice that year.

This time around, it only looks like the Pac-10 will get four or five bids while the Big East stands to get a couple more. Sendek doesn’t seem to think the discrepancy should be that big:

And you thought lobbying was only important in college football.

Sendek’s obviously thinking a few steps ahead. It’s no surprise that he’s the kind of guy who would install new sets during a game day walk-through.
