Off-and-on rain today forced the NHRA to postpone the remaining final eliminations of the Kragen O’Reilly Winternationals in Pomona until Monday.

The National Hot Rod Assn. completed only the first round of eliminations in top-fuel and funny-car racing in the season opener of its Full Throttle Series at Auto Club Raceway. Racing is scheduled to resume at 10:30 a.m. Monday.

Rain also washed out qualifying on Thursday and Friday. Spectators with tickets for Thursday, Friday or Sunday can redeem the face value of those tickets for seats to Monday’s rounds, the NHRA said.

In top-fuel, reigning champion Tony Schumacher was among those advancing, as did Antron Brown and Brandon Bernstein. In funny car, drivers advancing included Del Worsham and Ashley Force Hood. But Hood’s father, 15-time champion John Force of Yorba Linda, lost to Ron Capps.
