Pick-Six pool could exceed $3 million at Santa Anita

For those who want to try their luck and test their expertise in picking horses, the pick-six pool at Santa Anita Thursday should exceed $3 million after the 20th carryover in 45 days of racing at the Arcadia track.

Whether because of conincidence or as a result of the new Pro-Ride synthetic surface, the 20 carryovers have already surpassed the number of carryovers _ 19 _ during the entire 85-day meeting at Santa Anita in 2007 when there was a dirt track.

A two-day carryover of $704,945 resulted from no one hitting the pick six during races Sunday and Wednesday, setting up Thursday's pick-six bonanza. Image what the crowd might be like on Friday, when there's free general admission, if everyone comes up empty again.
