Dodgers: Saturday pregame notes

TUCSON -- Blake DeWitt will start at shortstop today as Manager Joe Torre tries to determine whether the second-year infielder could be used at a utilityman. Third base coach Larry Bowa, the coaching staff's resident fielding expert who is working extensively with DeWitt, told Torre that he was ready to play the position in a game. The last time DeWitt played at shortstop was in high school.

Speaking of potential backup shortstops, Tony Abreu underwent an X-ray exam that came back negative, Torre said. Abreu will undergo an MRI exam Monday.

Here's the lineup the Dodgers will field today against the Colorado Rockies:
CF Matt Kemp
SS Blake DeWitt
C Russell Martin
1B Valentino Pascucci
LF Delwyn Young
RF Xavier Paul
DH Jason Repko
2B Luis Maza
3B Juan Castro
P Clayton Kershaw
