When a radio reporter asked Alex Rodriguez a question in Spanish during Tuesday’s news conference at the Yankee spring training facility in Tampa, some fans might have wondered what they had missed.

Possibly a starting revelation about his steroid use, or a jab at MLB Commissioner Bud Selig?

Nothing of the sort. Here’s a translation of what Rodriguez, a native Dominican, said in Spanish after being asked what he had learned from his negative situation:

I definitely have a message for the youth. I made a mistake. I feel really bad. But I think God has an opportunity and wants to send a larger message than baseball and tell the youth what not to do and what to do. And not to follow my bad example of three years.
