The Lakers had a lot of success when they pounded the ball down low against the Spurs during Wednesday night’s 112-111 loss in San Antonio.

Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol punished the Spurs with their skill and power. They combined for 39 points and were a combined 20 for 29 from the field. But the Lakers went away from that duo in the fourth quarter and struggled at times.

Bynum had only four points in the fourth and took three shots. Gasol had two points and took only one shot during the last quarter.

The Lakers have two seven-footers. The team might consider taking more advantage of Bynum and Gasol. If they do, it probably will make life much easier for the rest of the team. They’ll get a chance to do just that at 7:30 p.m. (PT) on Friday, when the Orlando Magic comes to town.
