The Lakers and Clippers are traveling on different roads.

The Lakers are on the high road to success, with a 32-8 record that is second best in the NBA. The Clippers are traveling the low road, building a 9-31 record, the third-worst record in the NBA.

But the Lakers claim they won’t overlook the Clippers when they meet on Wednesday night in a Clippers-designated home game at Staples Center.

‘Every time we play the Clippers, it’s another crosstown rivalry type of situation,’ Lakers guard Derek Fisher said today after practice. ‘The records aren’t really relevant. It’s always a game that I think their fans look forward to. We look forward to playing. It’s always highly competitive for the most part.’

Actually, the first two games the Lakers played against the Clippers this season really weren’t competitive. The Lakers defeated the Clippers by an average of 28 points in the first two games.
