Clippers to Adams: Hassan, we hardly knew ye

January 7, 2009 |  5:37 pm

It wasn't even as long as the Jason Williams era.

Swingman Hassan Adams was barely a Clipper for an afternoon. Perhaps not even an hour, thought Clippers' assistant GM Neil Olshey. He was acquired earlier in the day from the Toronto Raptors, along with cash considerations, for a future conditional second-round draft choice and then was waived.

Was it something he said?

No. It turned out guard Fred Jones (sore foot) wasn't as severely injured as thought. And once it became clear that Jones could play Thursday at San Antonio, Adams became expendable.

That information about Jones' injury update became available to the Clippers just as the Adams trade call was concluding.

"We expect to sign him to a 10-day contract," Olshey said of Jones. "We were kind of hedging our bets [with Adams]."

Jones hurt his foot in Sunday's loss to the Pistons, and X-rays were negative. His pain threshold was such that he should be able to play against the Spurs, having cleared waivers on Wednesday. (The Clippers placed him on waivers on Monday, along with Paul Davis.)

The 10-day contract will be worth $58,729 for Jones.

You guys missed out on Hassan. Let me tell you something about him, he even cheered when Roko Ukic cut a 36 point lead down to 34 against Denver. Class act all around, just happened to be a crappy basketball player.

So.... the Clips just gave the Raps a 2nd round pick for... what?

Why did the Clips throw away the pick? I don't understand this move.

Thx! ;)
