Ducks trade Brad May to Toronto Maple Leafs

January 7, 2009 | 10:15 am

Perhaps the exodus of certain Ducks to the Toronto Maple Leafs and the new GM there, Brian Burke, has begun.

The Ducks today traded left wing Brad May to Toronto for a conditional sixth-round selection in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

May, 37, scored five points in 20 games with Anaheim this season. May was acquired by Burke from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for goaltender Michael Wall on Feb. 27, 2007, and helped the Ducks win the Stanley Cup that season.

Brad May is a useless bum with a style of play better suited to the 1970s than 2009. Good riddance. How the Ducks managed to get a 6th round pick for him but the Kings could only get a 7th round pick for their former starting goalie is beyond me.

Burke was brilliant to bring over May in 2007 and even smarter for stealing him away now. Number 24 was the heart of the Energy Line and will be greatly missed. Ducks - you sure screwed the pooch on this one.
