Plaxico Burress turns himself in to the NYPD

December 1, 2008 |  9:30 am

Plaxico Burress New York Giants receiver Plaxico Burress turned himself in to authorities today, three days after accidentally shooting himself in the thigh at a Manhattan nightclub. He wasn't limping as he stepped out of a black Cadillac Escalade and walked into a Midtown Manhattan police precinct to face charges of criminal possession of a firearm.

Burress' attorney used the occasion to attempt some damage control.

“He is standing tall,” attorney Benjamin Branfman told the New York Times. “He’s a mature adult handling this very well, I think, under the circumstances. He has asked me to tell all the fans who’ve written and called, and his teammates, that he very much appreciates their expressions of concern.”

What are the odds we hear Burress say he was at the wrong place at the wrong time?

Because we know his Glock semiautomatic pistol certainly was.

Bloomberg is just your typical Anti-American--Anti- freedom big mouth liberal.
If Plaxico had no permit, A heavy fine is in order, no more.
I dont know if he has a (bad) criminal background or not ?? If not " dont make a big
deal out of it . Be truthful ! you know the police--FBI, all make a very big
deal out of nothing. The disgusting Liberal way !!!!

Plaxico Burress made a mistake and is remorseful for his action. For him, jail is not the answer, he needs rehabilitation so that he can reunite with society in a stronger an better way. We love you Plaxico and our prayers are with you.

Bill,
I have to disagree. What if someone was accidentally shot or the bullet had ricocheted and hit someone else? When you go out to dinner, do you carry a handgun? Do you want to have to think if anyone around you is carrying a handgun? Would you want your kids to go out to a place where people are known to carry a handgun? Carrying a handgun in public is limited to a few individuals for a reason, and that is to ensure the public's (ie you and me) safety. You have no right to put me, or anyone else for that matter, in harms way. If you feel you aren't safe and need to carry a handgun, then maybe you shouldn't be going out. Or maybe you should choose a different type of place to hang out, or maybe you should hire a bodyguard who does have the training to use a handgun. If drinking and driving is bad, then drinking and carrying a loaded handgun is truly criminally irresponsible.
