LAS VEGAS -- The Orioles say they’re still in pursuit of hometown star Mark Teixeira.

General Manager Andy MacPhail said today he is scheduled to meet with Scott Boras, the agent for Teixeira, before the winter meetings end on Thursday.

MacPhail said he has discussed contract paramaters with Boras but declined to elaborate, other than to say the Orioles have no offer on the table.

‘We have had conversations,’ MacPhail said. ‘At the present time, we do not have a firm financial offer out.’

Angels owner Arte Moreno arrived in Las Vegas and could meet at any time with Boras. The Angels have identified Teixeira as their top priority, but they appear reluctant to go beyond seven years. Boras would prefer a 10-year contract.

Teixeira grew up in Maryland, and both the Orioles and Nationals are playing the local angle in pursuing him. The Angels, Red Sox and Yankees also are in pursuit.
