Despite reports to the contrary, the Baltimore Orioles are denying that they are out of the running for Mark Teixeira. According to the Baltimore Sun, the Orioles have offered seven years to the Severna Park, Md., native; the Angels, Boston Red Sox and Washington Nationals reportedly have offered eight years.
"We have indicated before that we have flexibility," Orioles President Andy MacPhail told the Sun. "I don't think anyone expects [Teixeira's agent Scott Boras] to lean over and accept the first proposal."

The Orioles do not need Mark Teixeira -- they would have still finished in last place last year even if they had him
the Orioles need 3 things: pitching, pitching, pitching
they were one of the highest scoring teams in the majors last year without Teixeira: what's the point of scoring 6 or 7 runs if your pitching staff allows 8 or 9 runs? any team that pays an outlandish sum for Teixeira will experience what the Texas Rangers experienced with A-Rod: a waste of money (and a mis-allocation of resources)
I am available to be the GM of any major league team!
