Merry Clippers: Holiday packages but where’s Baron Davis?

I noticed that the Clippers put out an announcement for their holiday ticket package this season -- click here for all the details -- and noticed the private autograph sessions with fun-loving rookies DeAndre Jordan and Mike Taylor included in the Rising Star Holiday Package for $250.

What caught my eye were the names offered in the Starting Lineup Holiday Package for $400: Marcus Camby, Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Zach Randolph and Al Thornton. Chris Kaman? Hmm ... guess that was done when it seemed as though the injured Kaman (strained left arch) would be back sooner than what is now expected to be much later.

And no Baron Davis in the Starting Lineup Holiday Package?

Did something happen after Monday night’s loss to Orlando?

(* Here’s an update. Baron Davis part of the Silver Anniversary Holiday Package. That includes two lower level seats in the end zone for each game in the package, an official limited edition 25th anniversary cap, signed by Davis and a private autograph session with a choice of three of these players: Marcus Camby, Eric Gordon, Kaman, Zach Randolph and Al Thornton. Cost: $800.)

All kidding aside, I’ve come to expect weird things to happen around this team when I miss a game. I leave on vacation to rainy Chicago about a month ago, and columnist Bill Plaschke got the franchise spinning and tilting after writing about a disconnect between coach Mike Dunleavy and Baron Davis.

I missed the Orlando game on Monday because of emergency dental issues and word filters back that columnist TJ Simers and his main Clipper foil, Thornton, were actually talking (well, sort of) before the game.

Either this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship or I was perhaps still under the influence of pain-killing shots from the dentist. Will check into reports of the Simers-Thornton ‘friendship’ at practice tomorrow.
