It sounded like an urban legend.

Reports were popping up on blogs, hockey message boards and websites that the Blackhawks, while on a trip to Toronto, decided on their own to charter a couple of buses and attend the funeral of their general manager’s father in northern Ontario.

As the legend had it, on the way back to Toronto, the team stopped in a small-town McDonalds and stunned the locals by ordering up Big Macs and fries -- and beamed in delight as customers recognized them from their pictures on the wall and their images on trading cards that accompany Mickey D’s meals.
