Angels owner Arte Moreno arrives in Las Vegas

December 9, 2008 |  3:15 pm

LAS VEGAS -- Angels owner Arte Moreno arrived at the Bellagio today and is expected to take part in meetings with Scott Boras, the agent for first baseman Mark Teixeira, either today or Wednesday.

Moreno did not speak to reporters on the way to the elevators this afternoon. Tim Mead, Angels vice president of communications, said that no special significance should be attached to Moreno's presence, that he wasn't necessarily in town to close a deal for Teixeira or free-agent pitcher CC Sabathia.

"He's never been to the winter meetings," Mead said. "He wanted to see what they're all about."
