Script calls for Kings to 'act' like hockey players

The Kings have been intensely studying their lines. No, not the ones the Washington Capitals will put on the ice Thursday but the ones they will read in a soon-to-be-aired skit on Lakings.com.

Players and staff were pouring over the script after practice Tuesday, with Swedish-born rookie Oscar Moller unsure what to make of it all, saying, "and I'm suppose to read this?"

Yup kid, and hit your marks.

Not everyone was satisfied with their roles. Announcer Jim Fox joked that, "I'm supposed to say, 'Huh?' Canadians don't say, 'Huh?' They say, 'eh?'." A rewrite and perhaps some acting lessons from fellow Canadian William Shatner seem to be in order.

And then there were those without dialog.

"I don't get to say anything," alternate captain Anze Kopitar said. "I guess I just stand there and look pretty."

Judging by his previous acting forays, not a bad idea.

As for the plot, that was ruled classified information by the team's communications department, though it will certainly adhere to the Shakespearean-like standards set down by previous Kings' skits.

Based on their poor records the past few years, the Kings do need a script to follow. They haven't performed like hockey players in quite some time.
