Kings’ fans may be campaigning for their favorite son tomorrow: goaltender Erik Ersberg.

Ersberg, making his first start this season, stopped all 19 shots through two periods of a scoreless tie Tuesday. It was a performance the Kings needed, as they have been unable to solve Ducks goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere, who has 26 saves.

The Kings were on the porch midway through the second period, when Drew Doughty fired from the blue line, with the rebound ending up on Kyle Calder’s stick. Calder had an open net, but Giguere somehow managed to reach back with his glove and snag his shot.

In national news, states that have NHL franchises have gone for Barack Obama, 12-4, thus far, with North Carolina and Missouri pending.

Commissioner Gary Bettman, though, is not expected to end up as secretary of commerce.
