Kevin Johnson a Pocket Obama?

November 12, 2008 |  1:17 pm

Now that Kevin Johnson has become Sacramento mayor, Steven Colbert asked last night whether the New York Knicks are drafting New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

With the former Cal and NBA guard as his guest  on "The Colbert Report,'' Colbert also asked if Johnson, as the first African American mayor of Sacramento, was annoyed that Barack Obama stole his thunder.

"We're modeling and mirroring what's happening nationally,'' Johnson said, "and No. 2, when I played in the NBA, they called me 'Pocket Magic' because of Magic Johnson. So now they're calling me 'Little Barack.'

"And I'm OK with that.''
