More news about new Clippers Randolph and Collins

November 24, 2008 |  5:12 pm

Zach Randolph sits behind the Clippers' bench during a Saturday game in New Jersey.

A bit more news is available on the delay that is keeping Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins from playing tonight for the Clippers. When the team announced that Randolph and Collins were being put on hold until results of physicals were available, my first thought was: Is Tim Thomas hurt again?

But it turns out that it isn't Thomas, and it isn't serious. The delay involves Cuttino Mobley, who went to the Knicks with Thomas in exchange for Randolph and Collins. The Knicks aren't worried, but deals aren't considered absolutely official until the necessary paperwork (physicals, etc.) hits the league office.

What's interesting is that the delay will end up hurting the Clippers, who play the Hornets tonight, and not the Knicks, whose next game is on Tuesday at the Garden when they host LeBron and Co. By then, the paperwork jam should have been cleared.

Hah! I thought the exact same thing about Tim Thomas when I heard about the delay. Cuttino will be missed, but good riddance to Tiny Tim.
