Boras: I've got offers for Teixeira
While the Angels have not made an offer to Mark Teixeira, his agent says other teams have.
"We've received a number of offers," agent Scott Boras said.
Boras would not say which teams had extended offers, or even how many. He characterized the offers as bids Teixeira had the right to accept, as opposed to informal discussions about contract parameters without firm offers attached.
He declined to set a timetable for Teixeira's decision.
The Angels identified Teixeira as their top off-season priority, but they have not made a bid because the franchise is unwilling to offer the requested 10 years. It is uncertain whether any of the bids Boras says he has are for 10 years. No team has confirmed making an offer to Teixeira, although the Red Sox, Orioles and Nationals are expected to pursue him.
Teixiera rejected an eight-year, $140-million offer from the Texas Rangers in 2007, according to Rangers owner Tom Hicks.

Why does Mark Texiera remind me of Elton John? He is the softest player to ever "strap-on" a uniform. Whomever gives him a Boras-contract will suffer the same ramifications as the Boras-Chan.Ho debacle of a contract. Is Tex the best first baseman? -- No Is Tex the best teamate? -- Does Tex add more W's compared to CC? -- No Has Tex reached his peak? -- Tough Q, but is he really expected to achieve raise the bar? I say yes, only because he is overated and will be laughed at in less than 4 years. Go-ahed and give Tex his wish -- playing East coast, because he will kill your team/cap in due time.

Funny that a guy named "Dookie" would be calling someone "soft". But really, on what do you base this claim? He is young, puts up solid numbers offensively, is a gold glover at first base, what is there not to like about Tex? Granted, he may not be the fiery leader or the rah-rah type, but so what? He may be a bit aloof at times, but is hardly what you would call a clubhouse cancer. What gives?

Scott Boras is the king of using the media to his client's advantage. The problem is that he doesn't feel bound by the truth so you never what is true and what is posturing for the benefit of his client. As a reporter you pretty much have no idea; but you have to write what he says because it is a good story and it gets your name out nationwide in multiple publications. If you don't print it you won't get any more "scoops" from Boras.

Hey y'all, i have no idea who these clowns think they are talking about TEX like that. He's just a DUDE like us. But what you have to understand, and what i understand, is that people who bash athletes are in fact nobody's themselves! "SOFT", i think not bub! TEX has to be the most consistent (along with
Pujols) everyday first basemen in all of baseball. Name one other 1st basemen you would rather have than those two guys. Plus he is actually likable; which matters a lot (CHEMISTRY is important people). I also welcome a clubhouse, in this age of "Pre-Madonna's", that would be "cancer-free"! Dude, if Mark came to B-more other big time free agents will come too... they won't say, "oh they used all of their money to get him". they will say, "Baltimore? sounds like it might grow back into the baseball town it once was". So what I'm saying is that guys like Boras push these guys to get the "big bucks", and thats fine... but they still have hearts and ultimately, everybody wants to come HOME!
