Agent Zero blogs on his Obama tattoo and Chauncey Billups
Gilbert Arenas, Valley Boy-turned three-time NBA all-star for the Washington Wizards, showed his support for Barack Obama by getting a tattoo on his left hand with the Obama slogan, "Change we believe in."
"I got it on the insides of my fingers on my left hand, so you can't really see it," Arenas blogged on nba.com. The blog also links to a close-up photo of the tattoo.
Arenas, recovering from multiple surgeries on his left knee, wrote that he got the tattoo at his regular shop in Orlando the Friday after the presidential election. He also stockpiled copies of publications -- including the New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune and People magazine -- that reported on Obama's election as our 44th president.
It's been a slow road back to the court for Arenas, who signed a $111-million, six-year contract with Washington in the summer after playing only 17 games last season because of a knee injury. Arenas hopes to be playing in games by mid-December.
Meanwhile, he's working out against teammates. He blogged that he trounced former USC guard Nick Young in a one-on-one game. "I beat him 9-1, he was so embarrassed."
Arenas also wrote that the Denver Nuggets improved their team with their recent trade for point guard Chauncey Billups: "They have too many Alpha males on one team ... it's hard to win like that. When everybody has an aggressive mentality -- Melo, J.R. Smith, Kenyon Martin, Chucky Atkins (yeah, Chuck is one of those loud-mouthed Alpha males, you'd be surprised) -- and when you have too many speakers and no listeners, it's hard to get a message across.
"But, Chauncey is more of a leader, so he can help to lead that team now. They needed that."
